A small round pill box adorned with a bright floral bouquet of red, yellow, white, and blue glass tesserae against a black background. The outer border is richly detailed with alternating turquoise and ruby panels, each decorated with white filigree-style scrolls. A twisted brass edge frames the piece, enhancing its jewel-like depth and craftsmanship.

Made in Italy around the 1950s, this box reflects a time when artisans in Florence and Venice revived ancient mosaic techniques for the souvenir trade. Each piece was entirely handmade, taking cues from Byzantine and Roman traditions yet styled for the romantic traveler. These tiny works were sold in boutiques along the Grand Tour routes, symbolizing elegance and artistry in miniature form.

Today, it serves beautifully as a holder for small jewelry, vitamins, or keepsakes. It also makes a meaningful display piece, bringing a touch of old-world color and care to a vanity or shelf.
