Vibrant and refined, this vintage Italian micro mosaic pill box glows with a brilliant cobalt ground and a lush bouquet of hand-cut glass flowers. Three vivid red and orange blooms take center stage, surrounded by soft pink petals, white florets, green leaves, and tiny yellow accents. The colors rise beautifully from the deep blue background, a classic mid-century technique meant to give the flowers a luminous, jewel-like presence.

Every tessera was placed by hand, the craftsmanship evident in the tight, swirling background tiles and the careful shaping of each petal. The octagonal mosaic face is framed in a gilt rope-twist border, while the sides reveal a richly embossed floral band, a detail found on higher-quality Italian boxes from the 1940s–60s. Inside, a single hinged compartment opens cleanly, its smooth metal interior showing gentle patina consistent with age.

Collected as beloved Grand Tour–inspired souvenirs, micro mosaic boxes like this preserved Italy’s centuries-old tradition of miniature glass artistry. With its striking octagonal silhouette, brilliant cobalt palette, and ornate embossed body, this example is both a functional keepsake and a wonderfully expressive piece of mid-century Italian craft.
